FAQ

Here are the answers to some of the commonly asked questions about the goodies you can get here at The Pink Toque shop!

Q. Did you write the pattern for your Cthulhu accessories? Do you make them yourself?
A. I designed the patterns for ALL of the creations available in my store myself, and when you order, I personally crochet and handcraft these items for you, too! I put a lot of love and care into every item I make here; they are accessories you truly can't get anywhere else.

Q. The product I want is sold out! What gives?
A. Due to an exceptionally high order volume, I am only able to put up a limited amount of each product weekly as I can only make so many in a week. (I'm just one person!) If the product you want is sold out, check back the next week. Thanks for your patience as I try to keep up with your crochet orders!

Q. How do I pay for my order?
A. This site proudly uses PayPal to process all transactions safely and easily. PLEASE be sure that your shipping address (and email address!) on PayPal is up-to-date when you order so that your goodies go to the right place! When you order a pattern, I will email you the PDF pattern within 24 hours of receiving Paypal payment using the email address you have on file with Paypal. Contact me if you need to change your address.

Q. Can I order your products as a gift & have it shipped it to my friend/family/loved one?
A. Of course! My creations make a great gift for the geeks you love! I would be happy to set up your order as a gift for no additional charge if you'd like to ship directly to the recipient. I will add a personalized note to the order for you, and no receipt or payment information will be enclosed. Just specify in the notes to seller that your order is a gift when checking out, and let me know what you'd like written on the card. I'll write your personalized note myself to create a truly personal geeky gifting experience for you and your recipient. :)

Q. What are your accessories made from? Can I wash them?
A. I use soft and durable, 100% acrylic or 100% cotton yarn for all of my crochet creations. Fiber content is specified on each product. Yarn creations at The Pink Toque are all machine washable on a gentle setting, however, I highly recommend hand washing your accessories and laying them flat to dry instead. The adult size Cthulhu Toque and the Scarfthulhu feature buttons for eyes, so they pose a possible choking hazard and are not suitable for children. However, I can accommodate your needs, and would love to swap out button eyes for hand sewn felt eyes in the event you want to make your order more child-friendly! There is also a child's version of the Cthulhu Toque which features felt eyes instead of buttons.

The Baththulhu Cthulhu Bath Mitt over at geeksoap.net is another design of mine. It is made from super soft 100% cotton and is meant to be used with soap in the shower or bath. Just be sure to rinse it thoroughly after each use and lay flat to dry.

The Sockthulhu Cthulhu plush is hand sewn from super soft chenille knit socks. While they are cuddly and cute, they are not meant to be washed! These are limited to how many pairs of chenille knit socks I can get my hands on.

Q. How long does it take to get my handmade creations?
A. I typically ask for 7-10 business days from receipt of purchase for your order to be shipped, if you're purchasing a crochet creation that I need to make; patterns are emailed to you within 24 hours of payment. I personally crochet or sew each and every item you see in the shop myself, and it takes time! I may be able to get your order out to you quicker, but it really depends on how many other orders I have in progress already or if multiple creations are involved. Do know that I do my best to get your order out to you ASAP. Please keep this in mind especially during the holiday season. :)

Q. Didn't you use to sell on Etsy?
A. Yes! I started out selling on Etsy in October 2006. I have since moved my handmade fiber creations to this store, and my geeky soap has been moved over to its own storefront at geeksoap.net.

Q. Something's wrong with my order!
A. If there's ever anything wrong with your order or you aren't 100% satisfied with The Pink Toque products, please let me know immediately so we can work it out! Please note that PDF patterns are non-refundable, as they are electronic files that cannot be returned.

Q. Where can I see more pictures of your creations?
A. Check out my portfolio over at http://www.thepinktoque.com I blog there about crafty things including new crochet accessories and GEEKSOAP announcements, too!

Q. Do you Twitter or have a Facebook Fan Page?
A. Yes and yes! Follow along with my tweets @thepinktoque and @geeksoap, and check out The Pink Toque on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/thepinktoque

Q. What's "The Pink Toque" or a "Toque" ?
A. The Pink Toque or 'pinktoque' has been my online persona for years. It's my username across many websites, including gaming and social media. In Canada, a "toque" is a woolen winter hat and is my favorite word of all time. When you combine my favorite color with my favorite word you get 'pinktoque' :)
